Born on July 1, 1972, Dr. Basiru’s roots are deeply entrenched in the rich cultural heritage of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. He hails from the Odofin Compound, while his mother comes from Alawe Compound, both in Osogbo. From an early age, Dr. Basiru displayed a passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge that would define his life’s journey.
He began his formal education at the Salvation Army Primary School, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, where he laid a solid foundation for his academic pursuit. He proceeded to Laro Grammar School, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, where he shone brightly as a leader, serving as Assistant Senior Prefect and the Public Relations Officer of the Dramatic and Arts Society, showcasing his communication and organizational skills.
In addition to his Western education, Dr. Basiru was deeply rooted in Islamic scholarship. He studied Arabic and Islamic Studies at Ma’had Zumaratul Solheena, Afonta, Osogbo, and the Osun Islamic Theological College, Idi Baba, Oke Baale, Osogbo, where he excelled as a diploma student.
For his higher education, Dr. Basiru attended the prestigious University of Ilorin, where he earned a degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies (1989–1992). Driven by a profound interest in law and justice, he later enrolled at the University of Lagos, where he obtained a degree in Law and began a flourishing legal career.

He is happily married to Habibat Basiru, an esteemed legal practitioner who currently serves as a Magistrate in the Osun State Judiciary.
